Walk Around Vauxhall and Nine Elms
Wednesday 14th August 2024
John King, who is well known to members of Dorking Branch, has kindly arranged a walk around Vauxhall & Nine Elms on 14th August 2024. The walk will include some railway related topics such as Vauxhall Station, railway housing, the railway viaduct, Miles Street Arch, the original site of Nine Elms Station, a royal station site and the site of Nine Elms Locomotive Shed and goods yard. John will also talk about Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, New Covent Garden, the redevelopment of Nine Elms, the US Embassy, and Vauxhall cars. If you would like to participate, please can you send a message to the LCGB Dorking email lcgbdorking@outlook.com. We will meet at 2pm between the exit of the main railway station and the entrance to the underground. The cost will be £5 per person. The total amount collected will be handed to John which he usually donates to his favourite charity Maggie’s.
This event has been organised by the Dorking Branch, but all members are welcome to participate.
